Saturdays are usually very busy days...it is our P-day. We do the laundry, pay the bills, plan our menus, go to the grocery store, clean the house and get ready for Sunday. Today, in addition, we have two different baptisms and we had 5 people baptized! We were planning on 8 originally, but the other 3 will be baptized next Saturday. Our first baptism was at 2:00pm. Chance is a 19 year old male who has cerebral palsy. For whatever reason, he was living in the Ogden Rescue Mission waiting for his social security to kick in. He said that he had been looking at all different religions and felt that it was right to be baptized and join the church. I gave the talk on the Holy Ghost. During the talk, I just felt that the Holy Ghost was enlightening his mind and he knew the truth. He smiled a few times as I was speaking and I just strongly felt the presence of the Holy Ghost.
We drove back to Ogden at 7:00 pm for the M. children's baptisms. Four members aged, 9, 10, 11, and 12 were baptized. It was a sweet and tender service. I again felt that Heavenly Father tenderly loves each of these children. Mom is a member, dad is not.
We had two investigators come to Chance's baptism. One of them, comes to the investigator class. She is still struggling with smoking. As Chance was getting dressed after baptism, she came to me and wanted to know if a person could get baptized a 2nd time if they wanted. I was able to explain that each week at Sacrament Meeting as we participate in the sacrament we renew that original baptism covenant and we ask for forgiveness for our sins and once again become clean. As I was speaking, the Holy Ghost again testified to me what a wonderful blessing it is to once again become as clean as the day we were baptized.
Being on this mission has allowed me the opportunity to ponder gospel truths and have the Holy Ghost testify of their truths. We can become as clean as when we were baptized each week when we take the sacrament. I think too many Sundays all I did was eat and drink and not really partook of the emblems, asked forgiveness and became clean. Another lesson the Holy Ghost is reminding me of. I will be eternally grateful for these lessons I am being reminded on. I am grateful for this crazy, hectic P day we had today and the wonderful people we shared their baptism with.
