It's official! I went to the wrist doctor today to get a final update on how well the wrist is healing. I told Dr. Huish that I was much better than new. I had one place that I wanted him to touch as it was making a kind of grinding-popping sound. After putting his index finger over the spot he said, "You have a screw loose". I told Emily about it and she said, "Sweet! Grandma has a screw loose."
Now I know you are all laughing uncontrollably at this point. The long and short of this is, it seems the screw is shredding the tendon in my thumb/index finger and it is now apparent that I will need to have the metal all removed. I asked if he could do this under local anesthetic in his office and he smiled and said No. He asked when I would be released and I said a year from June. He said June sounded fine, maybe even July, but it needs to be this year, not next. So-o-o-o I reminded him just how much I hate surgery (I was just about ready to cry but didn't want to make a scene because he has been so good to me and missionaries don't cry in public). He just said that I had to have it done. I have another appt. to see him in June and get another X-ray. Perhaps if Dick and I are extra good missionaries and you all pray for us, it will just go away and be fine in June. Perhaps....
