The Super Heroes of the Mission

I really think that the Mission President and his wife are definitely the super heroes of the mission. Neither Dick nor I know how they have the time for all they do, and they do it for 3 years! This last Tuesday was the arrival day for the new missionaries. We had 13 missionaries arrive. At noon, Sister Olson brought 30 sandwiches, which she made, chips, water, cookies, fruit and fruit roll up. Two of the sandwiches were gluten free, one was for a vegetarian. She was the hostess with the mostest. Then she went home and started to prepare dinner for the new arriving missionaries who would spend the night at her home. I asked if Dick and I could help her. She immediately replied "Yes". Dick and I went directly from the office to her home. We started to help in the preparation of the dinner. She had already gone home, made brownies, and had two LARGE pots of Sicilian beef cooking. We had to prepare the pasta, green salad and heat the rolls. Again, she is fixing for 20 people. Dick and I stayed to help do the dishes....and yes, she did use paper products as much as possible. We arrived home about 9:00pm, totally exhausted. The new missionaries stayed over night at the president's home. The next morning, all the beds had to be stripped and remade, laundry of all the sheets and towels had to be washed. Sister Olson prepared breakfast for all the new missionaries. Then President Olson brought all the missionaries back to the office to start their work as missionaries. At 5:00pm that day, Wednesday, president Olson brought the departing missionaries, 13 of them to his house. Sister Olson again fed the departing missionaries dinner, and those missionaries then spent the night there. Once again, sheets needed to be washed and beds remade, breakfast for 13 hungry missionaries was made, and President Olson then drove them to the airport. All of this they do every six weeks with a turn around of of less than 48 hours. Incredible! Absolutely amazing! And this along with the regular jobs as President and his wife. They are my heroes.
