A Good Sunday

Today, Elder Lund and I were assigned to speak in Sacrament Meeting on the topic of "Prophets, with a missionary emphasis". We had a difficult time just trying to figure out what exactly that was. But we came up with something, and delivered it, and now I can say that we won't have to worry about speaking in J1 (Jefferson 1st) any more. We have taken our turn and it will be someone else's. After Sacrament meeting, we taught the investigator class. Today, we had about 20 investigators there. It was incredible! People kept coming in. They had to bring in 4 extra chairs. It is absolutely amazing to see so many nonmembers wanting to know about the Gospel. Elder M and Elder M had another appointment in another ward, so it was just Elder Lund and I. The lesson was #4 in the Gospel Principles manual, Agency. I think we had a pretty good discussion and I felt good about it. On Jan 28, we are having another baptism...this time for 6 new members!!!! Incredible. Can you imagine 6 confirmations in Sacrament Meeting the next day?

I looked around today and Stephanie was at church. So was Hortensia and her husband. It is quite something to see these new members embrace the gospel and make changes in their lives. Hortensia now wears a dress or skirt. She just looks happy. Stephanie said she was able to arrange her work schedule so she could attend meetings on Sunday. She too just looks happy. I sat next to Julia in Relief Society and she said she just feels better coming to church. She is wanting to know more about the gospel. She wants to know more so I introduced her to Elder M. They will go visit her tomorrow.

So it was a good Sunday...new members staying active, making changes in their lives, as they embrace the gospel...6 baptisms scheduled and 20 investigators. Wow...it was definitely a good Sunday.

By the way, Stake Conference is scheduled for Feb. 4 and 5th. Guess who will be speaking at it? Elder L. Tom Perry. I guess he just likes coming to visit our ward and stake. It certainly blesses our little ward when he comes. I am anxiously awaiting his testimony again.
