I was talking with Elder B this week. He has been an AP for 12 weeks and President Olson just asked him to spend one more transfer (another 6 weeks) as an AP again. He said, "You know Sister Lund, I was called to be a Proselyting missionary and I really enjoy doing that. It is hard to be in the office, mainly handling all the missionaries' problems, complaints, and attitudes (19 & 20 years olds with attitude?) But, President Olson has asked me to do it, and I am happy to serve where he needs me, even if it is in the office just handling problems." I tried to explain that he was getting experience he would need when he was a Bishop or Stake President. He smiled and said that he hadn't thought of it that way. He expressed that he really likes to share the Gospel with investigators., but then again added, that he was happy to be obedient and serve where he was called.
I have thought about Elder B and thought how nice it would be for everyone if we all had the same attitude as Elder B. We may not like where we are called, but you never know what the calling is preparing us for in the future. Man, I sure learn a lot from these young elders.
