I think one of the blessings of serving this mission, for me anyway, is that the Spirit has testified so strongly to me so frequently that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true. Yesterday was another opportunity to testify to me once again.
It started in the Jefferson 1st ward again. We were again teaching the new investigator class. We had about 8 investigators there. The lesson was on the Atonement. As I was sharing my feelings about why the atonement is so important, I just knew in my heart that what I was teaching was true. I was sharing that not only does the atonement provide a way where our sins are forgiven, but I also testified that the atonement becomes very empowering. When someone applies the atonement and tries to do better in their life, there is a sort of power that one receives that helps them to do better. I asked if they Believed in Jesus Christ, or if they Believe Jesus Christ? We talked about how many people believe Jesus Christ, that he was a great man, prophet, teacher. But did they really believe in Jesus Christ? Did they really believe that he could heal their heart, forgive them of their sins, and that his sacrifice was enough to pay the price for our sins? As I said this, I just knew in my heart how important Jesus's sacrifice and suffering is to each of us, that we need to repent and try to do better. And then Jesus will make up the difference for our sins.
In the evening, Elder Lund and I drove to Logan to attend a missionary musical fireside on the restoration. There were about 50 or so missionaries there. As we walked in, you would have thought we were GA's with how happy all of the missionaries were to see us. I quickly remembered the first day serving at the mission office, wondering how I would ever get to know each of the missionaries and remember who they were. Now, as I look at all of them, I realize that I know all of them. And they are very dear to me.
The program was held in the Logan Tabernacle and there was almost a packed building, 737 members and investigators in attendance. The spirit was so strong as the missionaries would share a part of the restoration of the gospel, and/or sing a song. They invited everyone to listen to and feel what was in their hearts and they would know the gospel of Jesus Christ was true. By the time Sis. Olson stood to share her testimony near the end of the program, she could hardly talk. I found myself feeling the same way. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the true Church of Christ. We have a modern day prophet on the earth, even Thomas S. Monsen. Christ stands at the head inviting everyone to come unto Him, have faith in Him, repent of our sins, be baptized and confirmed, and then endure to the end. Jesus Christ lives! The atonement is for all. We all have the opportunity of choosing the Gospel and returning to our Heavenly Father.
The gospel is true. I am so glad to have these opportunities for my testimony to grow. What a blessing it has been to be a missionary. I am truly going to miss serving with these missionaries.
