I have felt the Spirit in several different settings. Last
Sunday, Elder Lund and I taught about the church of Christ in His times and
what things were present in his organization. Then we tied it to the Church in
our day and age and how the two are the same. One sister in our class kept
making notes and added to the discussion. We felt the Spirit as we bore testimony
to her.
Immediately following Sunday School, I was assigned to teach
in Relief Society. The lesson was Pres. Uchtdorf’s talk “You Matter to Him”. As
I was teaching the talk, I found my Heavenly Father telling me that I matter to
Him as well. It was another testimony of Heavenly Father’s love for me. Afterwards, one of the investigators we
have been talking came and hugged me and said, “For the first time, I truly
felt the Spirit”.
A few days ago, we found out that our Stake President,
Mitchell Shaw, age 46, was killed in a tragic accident of being crushed in a
front loader. Once again, the Spirit bore witness to me that he truly was a man
of God, a good man, who totally loved everyone, and he especially loved the
missionaries and our Jefferson 1st ward. He is with our Heavenly
Father now. His funeral is on Saturday. Our ward conference is scheduled for
Sunday. Although I didn’t know Pres. Shaw well, both Elder Lund and I have been
drawn to him and the goodness he represents. This has been done through the
Spirit. Now that he has passed, it is the Spirit that is confirming the Gospel
Plan and its truths to us.
Different events this week have drawn me closer to my Savior
through the Spirit. I hope that my life is not going to get so busy when I am
off this mission that I forget that the Spirit is always there to testify of
Gospel truths if I just recognize the promptings that are being given me.
The Spirit of God….I am so grateful for being able to have
it with me.
