The Enthusiasm of a Missionary

This week was a pretty usual week-after-transfer week. Missionaries come and go throughout the mission office regularly. Our office has two doors, so it is not unusual to have a missionary come into the main office door, walk through the office, and leave by the door by Pres. Olson's office. I get to say hi to many missionaries throughout the day. I have a treat jar on my desk that is filled with mini candy bars and so I visit with missionaries regularly. One missionary stopped and said Hi  to me. I said, "Elder, how is the work going for you?" His response was, "Great!." I asked if he had any appointments for the day. He replied he ONLY had four appointments. He then said, "But I have two baptisms scheduled for tomorrow. The work has kind of been in a slump, so we are going to go out and talk to people and see if
we can get something happening."

Thinking about this conversation, I would be jumping sky high if I had two baptisms upcoming, and then four more discussions. But this Elder had a higher standard that he needed to be working harder. I find myself wondering if I need to be working a little harder, perhaps setting my standard a little higher.
Thanks Elder for the conversation...I needed it!

This week Elder Lund has been 'the Bicycle Man". We have a storage area in the tabernacle that is affectionately referred to as "the dungeon". About 50 bikes, and other parts of furniture, etc. are in storage there for the missionaries. Because the mission office is being moved to a new location (because of the Ogden Temple remodel), it has been his project to get all the bikes to their rightful owners. Many Elders have come and reclaimed their bikes, but some elders are too far away from the office to come and get them. So, being the kind being we know Elder Lund to be, he packed up bikes and headed for Logan, Providence, and points north. He did this in winter snow storms through Sardine Canyon. In addition, he took mail and packages as well. Additionally, the next day a package of much-needed medicine came for an Elder. This Elder was, as you probably guessed, in Logan. No one else in the office wanted to take the medicine to the Elder. So, once again, Elder Lund drove to Logan and delivered the medicine. Way to go Elder Lund. Your stars really are shining.

We really do love what we are doing. We are so appreciative of your prayers and support and our prayers go with each of you.
