This week was spent in Elder Lund getting updated mileage reports for the month, handling lost credit cards, and ordering supplies for the missionaries. In all, it was quiet. We both are amazed when a request comes in for a Book of Mormon in some offbeat language. This week, both Elder Lund and I were absolutely amazed with a Burmese B of M. You read front to back and the lettering is very circular in nature. Fortunately, the church puts what language the book is in in English, at the front, or in this case the rear, of the book. We have currently have about 50-60 different languages available to the missionaries currently in our office.
As for me, I have a hard time figuring out what month it is. This week I worked on getting travel plans ready for those missionaries departing in December. At the same time, I was working on getting everything ready for the next batch of entering missionaries. That will be on Sept. 13th. Besides that, I processed some new incoming missionaries paperwork. They are coming in January and Feb. of 2012. Scheduling their return dates, that puts me with working in the year 2014. No wonder I am always asking what day it is. I truly feel like time is just whizzing past me. On Sept. 13, we will only have 9 more months until we are released June 13, 2012. Wow, it is just amazing. What else is amazing is that when you leave, it is just another day in the mission field, no parties, or special words said, just "Thank you" and "we hope to see you again". The work just continues on.
We work with such tremendously wonderful missionaries, Pres. and wife, Senior couples, and all. I feel so very fortunate. Tonight, I was wishing that I would hear from our kids. I was feeling a little blue. There was a knock on our door, and it happened to be a missionary companionship from West Bountiful. I thought that their presence being at my house just then was a tender mercy from the Lord to me.
We had a wonderful Sabbath in the Jefferson 1st ward today. It is becoming almost a regular thing for Elder Lund and I to be called upon by the missionaries, at the last moment, to teach the investigator class of Sunday School. We really like working, and testifying to these investigators how much we love the Lord and His gospel. We love this missionary work.
Elder Bob Lund, had a torn knee meniscus repaired this week and Elder Lund and I went to the hospital to be with the other Sister Lund. All went well and we wish them a quick and complete recovery.
We love you all and are appreciative of your love, support, prayers, and dinners for us.
