Elder Medveczki
I have thought many times that I am so fortunate to be around "the Lord's giants". Today, it was true again. Elder Medveczki (pronounced med-ee-ves-key) came to the office. He was there as a musical duet was supposed to be practicing and he was going to be the pianist. For some amount of time, he waited for the singers to arrive. While waiting, he sat down at the organ to play and oh my, did he play! He is from Hungary and come to find out, he has been playing and writing music since he was four. I am predicting now, he will soon be an organist for the mo-tabs and conference center. Oh my, he sat down and without any music played the most incredible renditions of "come, come ye saints," "press forward saints,", I need thee every hour' and on and on. He was amazing! I couldn't help but think that our daddy would have been amazed to have heard him play. There was a ward member that was in the chapel and asked him if he could play the Wurlitzer. He immediately started playing as if on a Wurlitzer. I thought again of daddy, and Gus Farney and the Organ Loft. Today, I was grateful that my dad taught me to appreciate all sorts of music, including organ music. It was almost breathtaking to hear Elder Mecveczki play today. Once again, I was grateful to be around this "musical giant".
